The Climate Change Act 2008 commits Government to reduce overall carbon emissions by at least 80% by 2050. Meeting this target will require a change in energy efficiency of existing buildings and household energy use.


A step forward to achieving this target was the introduction of EPC certificates. All domestic residential buildings, whenever they are built, sold or rented out, require an EPC.


The certificate will give prospective purchasers an easy to read guide to the likely energy costs of occupying the property, as well as recommendations on how to improve its efficiency.

If you are selling or renting a property, then you are legally required to produce an energy performance certificate EPC for the property.
